A Happy new Year to all my friends and family. This was the sunrise from my terrace on New Year's Eve....Added to a nice bottle of NZ wine a very quiet night was enjoyed.

I am adapting to the extreme heat we have had here this last week- its been over 40' !!! It is amazing. At 8am in the morning it is 35'. It is a very different way of life one has to pursue. Not being over keen on the water- I find myself in the pool 3-4 times a day. Early in the morning-6.30am is great, and the swim last thing at night-11pm is the best. One can cool down to sleep. I am getting very good at cleaning swimming pools, and arguing with timers on pumps !!!
The warm/hot climate brings forth all sorts of interesting bugs- I find myself taking my camera with me when I water the garden. This large grasshopper was about 20cm long...could not believe it.

This face really is only one a mother could love!!!!! he was quietly chomping anything he could lay his mandibles on.....

This red cabbage tree shows the enormity of this specimen.

Another day, another specimen..
Many geckos, larger lizards, a multitude of other creepies arrive on windows at night- quite fascinating.
It is quite a different way of life living in this climate-cyclone warnings on TV at night for Darwin last week.
I am enjoying it.... quite unusual.
take care all of you...

Hey Karen
The heat is the worst part. We had a 46C day last week. Great shots of the bugs and the sunrise is amazing.
